The vision of the Half-Life Club in Web3 is to create innovative projects with a strong sense of meaning behind them and value for the community. While NFT sales are part of our revenue strategy, we aim to diversify our income streams and explore opportunities in both Web2 and Web3. In the first stage, we’ll collaborate with small but promising brands, we can promote them in the Web3 community, offering special benefits to our token holders. Our goal is to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3, combining their strengths to attract more people into the Web3 space and build a resilient and reliable project.
In January 2022, we began our journey in the NFT space with limited knowledge of the ecosystem. We believed it was an easy way to make money because we had artistic skills. We spent a lot of time researching marketplaces and understanding consumer preferences. In February 2022, we launched our first project—a collection of 40 PFPs (Profile Picture) on the Polygon chain on OpenSea, without a smart contract. To our surprise, one of the PFPs sold within a few days for 0.5 ETH. We held the funds in our wallet but soon discovered that our wallet had been compromised and the hacker not only stole the money but also gained access to our system. The hacker then uploaded their own NFTs for a future drop on OpenSea. This incident was extremely shocking for us.
However, we didn't give up. The very next day, we started building a better project—a PFP project featuring dogs. This time, we built it on Polygon using a smart contract. We learned everything ourselves, including contract development, artwork creation, and generating layered collections. We launched the project at the end of April but didn't make any sales within the first two weeks. Realizing that marketing was crucial, we spent a significant amount of time listening to discussions in Twitter Spaces. We learned about the prevalence of scam projects that lacked a long-term vision and couldn't effectively utilize the funds they raised. We saw people expressing frustration and disappointment with such projects.
We came to the realization that we were also building a project without a clear vision. We lacked the knowledge and experience to scale it effectively. Consequently, we decided to step back from marketing and focused on researching and gathering information. We listened to appropriate NFT spaces, learning from the experiences of others and witnessing the growing number of scams in the web3 space. Many people were leaving the industry.
Our conclusion was that before attempting to create a million-dollar project, we needed to establish our presence and build trust in the market, proving that we were not scammers. We decided to start with a smaller project—a limited supply of 200 Golden Lighters which we launched on the Solana chain. We taught ourselves Rust and other necessary skills by watching YouTube tutorials on building smart contracts, token gating, and dApps. We launched the project on September 25, 2022, and within minutes, we made our first sale to a collector who supported us blindly, without even knowing the specifics of the project. However, due to our poor communication skills, we didn't effectively market our product. We had a vision for scaling the project but struggled to convey it to others. Over the next three months, we faced challenges in communicating and engaging with the community. We realized that our novel concept was too vast and struggled to retain audience's attention. While the concept was good, our presentation was lacking because we were just a group of individuals doing our best to build the project.
Once again, we took a step back and identified the problems with our project. We focused on learning about effective communication and addressing the project's weaknesses. We revamped the artwork, improved the novel, and built a project that could stand out in the future market. After a lot of hard work and continuous development, we finally created the Golden Lighter—an innovative project that aims to make retro cool again.
In the era of continuous development and regular innovation the “Golden Lighter” discovered its innovation in the past, creating a community that values nostalgia and their roots. It offers 1,823 digital collectibles of hand-crafted engravings in 8k quality. Ah, the story behind why we chose 1823 as our total supply of tokens! We were brainstorming in our token cave, sipping on some seriously strong coffee, trying to find the perfect number. We needed enough tokens to fund our activities and keep things compatible for future. We considered a range from 1500 to 2000 tokens, doing our research and all.
But then we stumbled upon a fact: the world's first lighter was invented way back in 1823. And that number just clicked with us.
We thought, "Why not pay tribute to this fiery invention?" We had a good laugh and said, "1823 it shall be!"
